Screen transitions between screens
A screen transition is the movement that plays when a visitor goes from one screen to the next. Your funnel usually has one default transition, which comes from your theme’s motion scheme. Any single connection between two screens can play its own instead: a different type, speed and easing.
1. Open the connection’s details — details
Open your funnel on the canvas. Every connection between two screens has a small round button in the middle of its line, circled in the screenshot. Click the button, or double-click the line, to open Connection Details. No connection yet? Connect two screens first (the link above shows how).
The button shows an info icon. If the connection has conditions, it shows the number of conditions instead; the details open the same way.
2. Find the Transition settings
Connection Details names the two screens the connection joins, then has a Transition group with three settings: Type, Duration (ms) and Easing.
A new connection has no transition of its own. Type is left empty, which means Inherit (funnel default); the note under it says “This connection plays the funnel's default transition.” Duration and Easing are greyed out until you pick a type.
3. Know where the default comes from — details
The funnel default is the screen transition of your theme’s motion scheme. When you use Apply to canvas with the Animations group ticked, the scheme’s transition is saved as the funnel default. Smooth is a Slide of 300 ms, Subtle a Fade, Dynamic a Push and Playful a Scale. None removes the default.
A funnel with no default transition switches screens instantly, except on connections that carry their own transition. The linked guide shows how to choose, preview and apply a scheme.
4. Choose a transition type
Open the Type menu. Inherit (funnel default) is the first choice, followed by nine transitions. Your choice is saved as soon as you make it and applies to this connection only.
Slide: both screens move together. The next screen comes in from the right as the current one leaves to the left.
Push: the next screen pushes the current one away. The current screen moves a shorter distance and darkens as it goes.
Cover: the next screen slides in over the current one, which stays where it is.
Cover Vertical: like Cover, but the next screen rises from the bottom.
Reveal: the current screen slides away on top and uncovers the next one underneath.
Fade: the next screen fades in over the current one.
Crossfade: the current screen fades out while the next one fades in.
Fade Through: the current screen fades out first, then the next one fades in while growing slightly to full size.
Scale: the next screen fades in while growing slightly to full size, and the current one fades out.
This dialog has no direction setting. By default Slide, Push, Cover and Reveal move toward the left and Cover Vertical comes up from the bottom.
5. Set the duration and easing
After you pick a type, Duration (ms) and Easing become editable. A new override starts at 300 ms with Ease In-Out (Cubic); changing the type later keeps the duration and easing you set.
Duration: 50 to 10,000 milliseconds. It is saved when you click out of the field, and a number outside that range is set to the closest allowed value.
Easing: Ease Out, Ease In-Out, Ease In-Out (Cubic), Ease Out (Cubic), Ease Out (Expo), Ease Out (Back) or Linear. It is saved as soon as you choose it.
The note under the settings now reads Overrides the funnel default for this connection only. Set Type to Inherit to remove.
6. Spot connections with their own transition
After you close the dialog, a connection that carries its own transition shows a small dot at the corner of its button. Connections that follow the funnel default have no dot.
7. Go back to the funnel default
Open Connection Details again and set Type to Inherit (funnel default). This deletes the connection’s own transition and the dot disappears; the connection follows the funnel default again.
8. What visitors see
Publish or republish the funnel so visitors get the change.
A transition set on the connection always wins.
Otherwise, if your theme applied Calm Paywall and the connection leads into a Paywall screen, the Paywall’s calm transition (Cover Vertical, 400 ms) plays.
Otherwise the funnel default plays. If there is none, the screens switch instantly.
When a visitor goes back during the same visit, with your funnel’s Back or the browser’s Back button, the transition that led into the screen they are leaving plays again, mirrored for the way back. If the page was reloaded in between, going back uses the funnel default instead (or the Paywall’s calm transition when leaving a Paywall screen), not the connection’s own transition.
If a visitor’s device is set to reduce motion, screens switch instantly.
While a transition plays, taps on the screen are ignored, so a double tap cannot skip a screen.
